Ingredients
Burgers
- 40 oz ground sirloin, can sub for plant based beef alternative
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. black pepper
- 1tbsp. olive oil
- 8 slices white cheddar cheese
- 8 brioche buns
- 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, optional
- 10 white mushrooms, sliced
- 4 cups baby arugula
- Toby’s Blue Cheese Dressing & Dip
Caramelized Onions
- 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. brown sugar, optional
Instructions
Gather all ingredients. Heat olive oil in a large pan or skillet on low heat and add in the onions. After 10 minutes, add the sugar if desired. Return to the skillet every few minutes to stir until onions become a dark golden color. This process should take between 30-45 minutes. Add in the balsamic vinegar at the very end and let cook for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
Begin preparing the mushrooms by heating a pan to medium high heat. Saute the mushrooms for about 10 minutes, mixing occasionally, until they become dark brown in color.
While the onions and mushrooms are cooking, preheat and oil the grill to a medium high heat. Prepare the beef patties by weighing out 5 ounce balls and flattening them to about an inch thick or less. Combine the seasonings in a medium bowl and mix, then sprinkle each side of the patties generously with the seasoning mixture. Cook each patty for 5 minutes on each side until the seasoning becomes blackened and the patties reach an internal heat of 145 F degrees. Right before they are removed from heat, add the cheese slices so they melt. It is optional to toast the burger buns, but we highly recommend it.
Stack up your burger by first adding the baby arugula to the bun, then add the burger patty, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. Finish each burger with a drizzle of Toby’s Blue Cheese Dressing & Dip. Serve and Enjoy your Black & Blue Burgers!
