Ingredients
Crust
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 8 tbsp. ice water
Filling
- 3 large apples of choice
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup Genesis Organic Ginger Apple Juice
Instructions
To prepare your Pan Baked Apple Ginger Pie, gather all of the ingredients. Start with the crust by adding flour and salt to a medium mixing bowl. Add in the butter and mix well until the texture of breadcrumbs. Add in the ice water one tablespoon at a time until the mixture clumps together. Place the crust dough in the fridge with plastic wrap over it. Heat the oven to 350 F.
Next, prep the filling by chopping the apples into half inch chunks. Add them in a medium mixing bowl with the lemon juice, sugar, ground cinnamon, and Genesis Organic Ginger Apple Juice. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
Prep a medium 9-10 inch pan or skillet by lining it with tinfoil. Remove the pie crust dough from the fridge and roll it out until thin. Drape the crust over the tinfoil and cut off any excess crust outside the pan. Poke holes with a fork or toothpick in the crust dough, then place the crust in the oven for 5 minutes.
Remove the crust from the oven and pour in the filling. Use the excess pie crust dough to create a lattice pattern over the top. Place in the oven again for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Serve with whipped cream or your favorite ice cream and enjoy!
